Starting out, I was just looking for a pump-head replacement for my existing 2.8GPM pump to have as a spare while I de-mineralize the other, but this no-modification-bolt-in item proved to be much more time-and-cost-effective with the bonus of a 25% percent increase in flow (I just had to dial back the pressure a half-turn for my older plumbing). Externally, the pump-heads are almost indistinguishable, but this unit has a physically smaller motor housing AND draws almost 3 fewer amps than the 2.8 unit! Interestingly, it's much more quiet than my 2 year old 2.8 in motor noise as well as pump-pulse vibration, yet it is clearly doing more work on fewer duty cycles.
