The original valve was a Toto; however, to save a few bucks, I decided to use the OEM replacement made by Korky when the Toto failed. The Korky was okay but never seemed to operate quite like the Toto valve and only lasted a couple of years. As such, when that valve failed, I decided to go back to Toto.Trying to locate the Toto fill valve was the most challenging aspect of installing a replacement. I looked around at my local home improvement stores and plumbing suppliers. In the process, I found that most did not have the part or were charging an exorbitant amount for it. Then, it dawned on me one day to check Amazon and it was there that I found the part at a price which I deemed reasonable. Installing the valve is a snap. Once you drain the water out of the tank and wipe it dry (I use a Sham-Wow for this), all you need to do is screw in the valve and reconnect the waterline. The... It will last about 4 years as did the original. I am not a big Toto lover as some of its models are poorly designed functionally and have many thin plastic parts which wear out or break quickly. This valve is for a Toto with a standard-flush system, but is a pain to work on as the tank has to be removed to change this valve. As designed, it sits too close to the wall for any work space behind it. Another Toto I have is the 2 flush model, and the flush mechanism is made of thin plastic and broke within 3 months! Instead of buying a replacement plastic part, I made a replacement out of metal. Works great. A part that is typically used dozens of times a day but is made of flimsy plastic and won't last more than 3 months? That is very poor product design/quality, and unacceptable. As a result, I prefer Kohler and American Standard. |
