The flange turns out to be plastic, with a nice shiny finish. Looks OK.Two things to be aware of: (1) The ID of the flange is suitable for regular shower arms, which are a little lighter than Sch 40 pipe fittings. If you need to use a regular pipe fitting coming out of the shower wall (e.g. for accessories), the ID of this flange needs some reaming. This takes longer than it sounds,since: (2) The flange is approx 1.5" face-to-face. Which means the pipe fitting needs to be longer than you thought..
